STACY, MN REALTOR · LOCAL GUIDE

LIVING IN STACY

Stacy was laid out in 1875 and named for Dr. Stacy B. Collins, an early settler; a post office had already opened in the area in 1873. The village incorporated in 1923 and stayed small for most of its history. That changed at the end of 2023, when Stacy annexed a substantial part of Lent Township, growing the city to about 30 square miles.

The result is a city that’s almost entirely rural. Most homes sit on larger lots or acreage, with a small in-town area around the old village center, city hall and businesses along Forest Boulevard. If you want space, a shop, a big garden or room for animals while staying close to the interstate, Stacy is worth a look. Rural properties here vary widely in lot size, outbuildings and setting, so each one deserves a careful look.

The Sunrise River runs through the area, with its West Branch joining near town at Mud Lake. The paved Sunrise Prairie Regional Trail passes through Stacy on its 21-mile route between Wyoming and Harris, following an old railroad corridor. Stacy Lions Park is home to Stacy Daze, the Stacy Lions Club’s annual festival on the first weekend in August, with a parade, car show, live music, bingo and fireworks.

Interstate 35 runs right through Stacy, so getting to the metro is simple. The drive to downtown St. Paul is usually around 40 minutes, Minneapolis a bit longer, and Forest Lake and Wyoming are just minutes south for shopping and services, with North Branch a short drive north. That mix of rural living and interstate access is the main reason buyers look at Stacy, especially those who want acreage without a long drive to the highway.

STACY SCHOOLS

Based on the Minnesota Department of Education’s 2025–26 attendance areas, most of the city — about 85% of its land and nearly all of its school-age children — is in North Branch Area Public Schools (ISD 138), whose students attend Sunrise River Elementary, North Branch Area Middle School and North Branch Area High School. Smaller areas fall in Chisago Lakes School District (ISD 2144) and Forest Lake Area Schools (ISD 831).

Because the lines run through the city, the district depends on the specific address, and I’ll help you confirm it before you make an offer on any home in Stacy.

What the percentages mean: the percentage beside each school below is the share of Stacy’s children of that school’s age who live in its attendance area — ages 5–10 for elementary, 11–13 for middle and 14–17 for high school (about 339, 187 and 235 children in the 2020 Census). District percentages use all children ages 5–17. It shows where the city’s kids are assigned; it is not a test score or a rating. Students per grade is each school’s 2025–26 enrollment divided by the number of grades it serves.
